A Destination Before Your Destination
Spanning over an impressive 210,000 square meters, Bahrain International Airport boasts state-of-the-art facilities. With 130,000 air traffic movements annually, it caters to the needs of 14 million passengers. Operating 24/7, the airport offers convenience with 24 self-check-in kiosks, 44 immigration counters, and 104 counters dedicated to processing arrivals. The main runway measures 3,964 meters in length and 60 meters in width; ensuring efficient operations.
Passenger comfort is a priority, with 24 departure contact gates, 6 Bus Remote Areas, and 22 eGates available to enhance the passenger's experience. Additionally, there are 10 remote stands, including 9 for Code E aircraft and 1 for Code C aircraft. The airport provides ample parking spaces, with a total capacity of 5,500 vehicles, whilst the baggage handling system boasts 8 belts and a capacity to handle 4,700 bags per hour.

Air Connectivity
Bahrain International Airport's excellent air connectivity provides passengers with a thriving network of connections. With a staggering 784 departures per week and 156,506 tons of cargo transported in May 2022, it serves as a vital hub for both passengers and freight. In 2022 alone, the airport facilitated 82,500 flights, accommodating 6.9 million passengers. Currently, Bahrain International Airport offers connections to 56 destinations, where there are plans to expand this number to over 70 destinations. It caters to the needs of 38 commercial and cargo airlines, solidifying its position as a key player in the aviation industry.
Bahrain International Airport offers convenient flying times to popular destinations with just a 1-hour flight, you can reach Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Kuwait. A short 1.5-hour journey takes you to Muscat, while Jeddah awaits in a mere 2-hours. Cairo, Amman, Mumbai or Delhi takes an approximate of 3-hours.
BIA Main Projects
Bahrain International Airport constantly works on exciting projects aimed at enhancing the passengers travel experience. BIA's main projects consist of a world-class Fuel Farm complex, designed with cutting-edge technology and advanced safety features, in addition to the development of an 'Express Cargo Village', the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Zone, and Awal's Private Terminal which offers FBO services.
BIA continuously strives to improve operational efficiency, and the Fuel Farm complex spanning over 77,000 square meters plays a significant role in achieving this goal. This state-of-the-art facility houses aviation fuel tanks, with an impressive total capacity of 30,000 cubic meters. Equipped with advanced safety and security features, as well as the latest aviation product handling technologies, the Fuel Farm ensures the smooth and secure supply of fuel at the airport.
To meet the growing demand and better serve its customers, BIA is currently developing an Express Air Cargo Village. This visionary project aims to enhance the airport's cargo handling capabilities, accommodating larger cargo volumes while adhering to the highest international standards. The Express Cargo Village will comprise separate buildings dedicated to each express cargo operator, creating a sophisticated logistics platform designed to facilitate efficient and seamless cargo operations.
Moreover, Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), an ISAGO accredited Ground Service Provider, offers fully integrated airport services at BIA with an unwavering commitment to safety and security. Supported by a highly skilled workforce for 3,000 professionals, BAS ensures the highest levels of service quality and customer satisfaction. With their comprehensive range of ground handling services, BAS plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation at the airport.
The Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) zone at BIA provides essential services for aircraft maintenance and operations. This dedicated zone includes an MRO hangar, main stores, aircraft parking, aprons, taxiways, airfield pavements, engine run-up areas, airfield ground lighting, and associated infrastructure. Leading service providers such as BAS, Texel Air, and MENA Aerospace operate within this zone, offering comprehensive MRO solutions to enhance the safety and reliability of aircraft operations.
For an exclusive travel experience, the Awal Private Terminal, operated by Hala Bahrain, sets new standards of luxury for both private aircraft users and elite guests traveling on commercial flights. With a rich history as the Kingdom's first international airport operating in the 1960s and 1970s, Awal Private Terminal has been carefully renovated to preserve its historical identity. Today, it serves as a premiere facility catering to VIP and business private passengers, providing unparalleled comfort and personalized services.
