Lionnel Maugis

Chief Development and Technical Officer

Mr. Lionnel Maugis joined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2025, bringing more than 30 years of experience in airport management, strategic consulting, and capital project delivery. He is recognized for leading complex airport development programmes and strengthening technical, operational, and regulatory performance.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Maugis held executive positions at Maldives Airports and Sofia Airport, where he led major capital development programmes and oversaw technical operations and regulatory compliance.

Before joining BAC, Mr. Maugis held leadership roles with the French Civil Aviation Authority, Egis, and ADPI of Groupe ADP. He also served as Resident Project Manager for the Bahrain International Airport Modernisation Programme and advised several European and African aviation institutions on safety and security initiatives. Involved in GCC airport development since 2008, he holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Florida and is a graduate civil aviation engineer from ENAC, France.

Mohamed Al Khenaizi

Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Mohamed AlKhenaizi joined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2025, bringing more than 20 years of experience in commercial growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence at leading international airports. He is recognized for developing commercially focused strategies and promoting data-driven decision-making.

Before joining BAC, Mr. AlKhenaizi spent 16 years at Dubai Airports, where he held key leadership positions across Commercial, Strategy, and Operations. Most recently, he served as Head of Commercial Planning and Business Support, playing a key role in shaping the airport’s commercial strategy and strengthening its planning capabilities.

At BAC, Mr. Al Khenaizi leads the Company’s commercial transformation agenda, focusing on aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenues, airline partnerships, and retail development. He holds an MBA in Aviation Management with Distinction and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with High Honours.

Mohamed Yousif AlSayed

Vice President – Airport Emergency Services & Health, Safety & Environment

Mr. Mohamed AlSayed joined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2010, bringing more than 25 years of experience in aviation safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis management. He is recognized for combining frontline operational expertise with executive leadership, alongside his extensive knowledge of aerodrome certification and experience as Chief Incident Commander during complex multi-hazard incidents.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. AlSayed served as Director of Airport Emergency Services from 2020 to 2025, leading the department and ensuring regulatory compliance and operational readiness at Bahrain International Airport.

Before joining BAC, Mr. AlSayed held senior positions at Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs, contributing to the oversight and development of Rescue and Firefighting Services. He has participated in senior-level crisis-planning initiatives and completed the ACI-ICAO Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme, earning the International Airport Professional designation. This further strengthened his expertise in aerodrome emergency preparedness, corporate governance, and the strategic alignment of health, safety, and environment practices.

Patrick Cuschieri

Vice President - Aviation & Security

Mr. Patrick Cuschieri rejoined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2025, bringing more than 30 years of international experience in aviation security, regulatory compliance, airport operations, and security risk management. He is recognized for leading major aviation security transformation programmes and developing national and airport security frameworks across the Middle East and Europe.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Cuschieri served as an Aviation Security Consultant with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. He previously worked at BAC from 2019 to 2023 as Vice President of Aviation Security and Fire and Rescue.

Before joining BAC, Mr. Cuschieri held senior aviation security positions with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, Malta International Airport, and the Malta Civil Aviation Directorate. He represented Malta on the European Commission’s Aviation Security Regulatory Committee and has served as an ICAO Aviation Security Instructor, ECAC Aviation Security Auditor, and National Aviation Security Inspector. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College in the United Kingdom and a Master’s degree in Creativity and Innovation from the University of Malta.

Leena Ahmed Faraj

Vice President - Corporate Strategy and Support

Ms. Leena Faraj joined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2012, bringing more than 20 years of experience in corporate strategy, human capital development, and organizational transformation across the aviation, financial services, and economic development sectors. She is recognized for driving strategic alignment, strengthening governance, and leading complex transformation initiatives.

In her current role, Ms. Faraj oversees BAC’s corporate strategy, driving organizational performance and cross-functional alignment while shaping the Company’s long-term priorities.

Before joining BAC, Ms. Faraj held key positions at American Express, Arab Insurance Group, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board, contributing to restructuring programmes, optimization initiatives, and national development projects. She serves as Vice Chair of the ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East Regional Economics Committee and holds advisory roles with ICAO and IATA. Her corporate and international advisory experience strengthens her expertise in governance, strategic transformation, and long-term value creation.

Eman Mansoor Marhoon

Vice President - Corporate & Communications

Ms. Eman Marhoon joined Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) in 2017, bringing more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and journalism. She is recognized for shaping corporate narratives, strengthening organizational reputation, and aligning communications with strategic business priorities.

Prior to assuming her current role, Ms. Marhoon served as Director of Corporate Communications at Gulf Air Group, where she led strategic communications supporting the Group’s priorities, reputation, and engagement with key stakeholders. She previously held the same position at BAC.

Before joining BAC, Ms. Marhoon held key roles at Bahrain Television and the Ministry of Information, gaining extensive experience in broadcasting, journalism, and public communications. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, as well as Master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mass communication. Her experience and qualifications equip her to lead BAC’s strategic communications and strengthen the profile of Bahrain International Airport within the Kingdom’s aviation sector.
