Bahrain International Airport Receives Four Prestigious ACI Recognitions
Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), announced that the airport has received four recognitions from Airports Council International (ACI) across customer experience, arrivals services, accessibility, and public health and safety readiness:
· Customer Experience Accreditation – Level 5 for the second consecutive year.
· Airport Service Quality Award for Best Airport at Arrivals Globally for the second consecutive year.
· Renewal of the Public Health & Safety Readiness Accreditation.
· Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation – Level 2 for 2026.
The recognitions were received by Mr. Mohamed Jameel AlKhenaizi, BAC Chief Commercial Officer, during the ACI World Airport Experience Summit, hosted by iGA Istanbul Airport in Türkiye from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
Level 5 is the highest level of ACI’s Customer Experience Accreditation programme and places BIA among airports worldwide to hold this distinction. Maintaining the accreditation for the second consecutive year reflects BAC’s commitment to embedding customer experience across its strategy, governance, operations, service design, and corporate culture.
BIA was also named Best Airport at Arrivals Globally for the second consecutive year through ACI’s Airport Service Quality programme. Based on feedback from passengers from around the world, the award reflects the quality of BIA’s arrivals services and the efficiency of the passenger experience upon entering the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Mr. Khalid Hussain Taqi, Gulf Air Group Chairman, expressed his pride in the achievements and said that maintaining the highest level of Customer Experience
Accreditation, alongside global recognition for arrivals services, public health readiness, and accessibility, confirms the success of BAC’s strategy in achieving excellence across the airport experience. He noted that these achievements are the result of the dedication of employees and the close collaboration of partners and stakeholders across the airport, contributing to Bahrain’s position as a leading aviation hub.
Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Janahi, BAC Chief Executive Officer, said that BIA’s receipt of these recognitions reflects BAC’s commitment to continuously enhancing the passenger journey, with each recognition covering an essential aspect of the airport experience, from customer service and seamless arrivals to accessibility, public health readiness, and operational resilience.
He added that the renewal of the Public Health & Safety Readiness Accreditation confirms BIA’s continued preparedness to manage public health risks and protect passengers, employees, and the airport community.
BIA’s Level 2 Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation further demonstrates BAC’s commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience for all. The accreditation recognises airports that implement effective accessibility plans, governance frameworks, training programmes, and services to support passengers with visible and non-visible disabilities throughout their journey.
